Concert Choir-Concerto is Palm Beach Children's Chorus's premier performing ensemble for developing and experienced young singers who are ready to take their musicianship and performance skills to the next level.
Singers receive comprehensive choral training in healthy vocal technique, breath support, tone production, harmony, music literacy, sight-singing, ear training, and expressive performance. Rehearsals challenge students to become confident, independent musicians while learning to blend their individual voices into a dynamic ensemble sound.
The choir performs and engaging and diverse repertoire ranging from classical and traditional choral literature to gospel, jazz, multicultural music, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. Singers develop experience singing in two and three part repertoire, with more advanced literature introduced as the ensemble progresses.
Performance is an essential part of the Concert Choir-Concerto experience. Singers participate in PBCC's major seasonal concerts as well as select community performances, collaborations, special events, and travel/tour opportunities. Students also develop stage presence, microphone technique, concert etiquette, and the skills needed to perform in a variety of settings.
Beyond musicianship, the Concert Choir emphasizes confidence, leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and character development. Older and more experienced singers are encouraged to serve as leaders and mentors within the ensemble.
Placement audition is required. Previous formal choral training is helpful, but not required.
Fundraising
Fundraising obligations are required of our singers and families in the amount of at least $200 per year. Singers and families will have the opportunity to participate in various fundraising campaigns throughout the year. Our tuition costs only cover a small portion of the actual cost to educate a child in our program. Therefore, we appreciate your support of our fundraising endeavors.
