Youth Theatre Programs
Palm Beach Children's Chorus was a winner of The 2018 Great Ideas Initiative Grant offered through the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County for The Youth Arts Workshop Theatre Program!
Youth Arts Workshop Musical Theatre Productions
Our Youth Arts Workshop Production Program provides students with an exciting opportunity to experience the magic of musical theatre while developing confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
Each production session includes weekly rehearsals, a dedicated technical rehearsal week, and multiple live performances for family and community audiences. Throughout the rehearsal process, students learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, movement, and stage performance as they work together to bring a story to life.
Production run times typically range from 30 minutes to one hour, allowing students to participate in a fully realized theatrical experience that is age-appropriate, engaging, and artistically rewarding.
A Collaborative Theatre Experience
When students join a Youth Arts Workshop production, they become part of a creative ensemble. Every participant is cast in a role that allows them to contribute to the storytelling process, whether through acting, singing, or movement.
We believe that every role on stage matters. From leading characters to supporting performers, each student plays an important part in helping the production succeed. Through collaboration, encouragement, and shared responsibility, students learn that great theatre is created when everyone works together toward a common goal.
In addition to performance skills, students gain valuable life skills including:
Our goal is for every student to leave the experience feeling proud of their accomplishments and inspired to continue growing as young artists.
Palm Beach Children's Chorus is making great strides in the performing arts in Palm Beach County. In 2018, Palm Beach Children's Chorus was an awardee of the Great Ideas Initiative funded by the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County. The "new idea" called the Youth Arts Workshop is a project based academic (health centered) and performing arts program that seeks to engage children in the theatrical performing arts, physical health and nutrition education, community engagement, and cultural experiences that will foster good citizenship, transform and enhance their lives and enrich our community.
Students participate in twice weekly (afterschool) and weekend musical theatre instruction in a group setting. In addition to musical theatre instruction, students have access to reading/literacy mentors, character education, and involvement in community life through musical theatre and performance opportunities of plays and musicals. Students in the Youth Arts Workshop are culturally and economically diverse.
We work with our sister non-profit organization, the South Florida Society for Arts and Culture to bring a dynamic children's theatre program to children throughout Palm Beach County. Each production is offered as a production class during our regularly scheduled calendar year (Fall and Spring Productions). This is an optional addition to membership in Palm Beach Children's Chorus. Students receive expert instruction in theatre, vocal, and dance (choreography).
